            Do you charge a tuition? 

                As a California public elementary, tuition is always free.

            Do I have to live in Oakhurst?

                Charter schools can serve students who reside in any bordering county to the county that charter school

                maintains its charter.  Mountain Home Charter School is in Madera County.  We will take qualifying students

                who reside out of county as long as the majority of students we serve reside in Madera county.

            Aren't you just helping families who "home-school"?

                We have many similar benefits of home schooling, and other necessary and helpful elements that make

                our program best referred to as a "personalized learning" program.  It is true that much of the student's

                work is done independently, but we also support them with on-cite classes, assessment, and academic

                counseling.  The independent portion is guided with frequent meetings, specialized curriculum, and

                significant assessment.

            What happens if a student is not successful in this type of program?

                According to Charter Law, we are obligated to set standards for success and academic growth which

                students must meet in order to continue with us.  We work with students to give them every chance

                to continue, but if a student cannot achieve in this setting we refer them back to the comprehensive

                campus.
