Dear WSCS Students and Families,
Two days ago, Governor Newsom and State Superintendent Thurman stated that it is in everyone’s best interest that schools remain closed to students and in person classes should be replaced with distance learning opportunities for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. Based on this guidance, both Fresno Unified School District and Yosemite Unified School District announced that they were extending the closure of their on-campus classes through the end of the academic year. In keeping with this guidance from our surrounding school districts, Western Sierra Charter Schools is going to continue to provide our services through distance learning to end of our academic school calendar. We know that this is a significant impact on our families and students, however; we also know that all of you are fully aware of the necessity of this action at this time. What does this mean for you? This means that we now know what the rest of the school year looks like. As we have migrated the WSCS program into all distance learning, both for the Advisor Teacher Meetings and for the Glacier classes, so we will keep doing the same thing until the end of the academic year. We continue to daily monitor federal, state and local guidance in relation to this COVID-19 situation and will communicate to you any news that relates to our school program. Here are things we are currently working on:
Students: Keep up your good work! Continue to work every day through your course assignments. Enforce order on these strange days by making and keeping a daily schedule. We are proud of you. Things will get back to normal. Parents: Our hats off to you! You are doing exactly what must be done in this time. Do please continue to stay in contact with your Advising Teacher. We are honored to work with you. Thank you for choosing to be with WSCS! We hope you are healthy and happy. Have a great Spring Break! Michael Cox |
